We are hiring an experienced Infection Control Nurse to support infection prevention and patient safety within our healthcare facility in Bahrain. The ideal candidate will monitor infection control practices, conduct clinical audits, train healthcare staff, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and international safety standards.
This role plays an important part in reducing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, and medical staff.
Key Responsibilities
Infection Prevention and Control
- Develop, implement, and monitor infection control policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
- Identify infection risks and implement preventive and corrective actions.
- Monitor sterilization, disinfection, sanitation, and medical waste management processes.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention guidelines and patient safety standards.
Monitoring and Audits
- Perform infection control audits across all departments.
- Monitor hand hygiene practices and proper PPE usage.
- Track, analyze, and report infection rates and trends.
- Participate in outbreak investigations and infection management activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and audit reports.
Training and Staff Education
- Conduct infection prevention training programs for healthcare staff.
- Educate employees on updated infection control procedures and clinical protocols.
- Provide orientation training for new employees on infection prevention practices.
- Promote awareness of workplace safety and healthcare compliance standards.
Quality and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with hospital infection control policies and international healthcare standards.
- Support accreditation requirements such as JCI and local healthcare authority regulations.
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives related to infection prevention and patient safety.
- Maintain proper reporting systems and compliance documentation.
Coordination and Communication
- Work closely with doctors, nurses, laboratory staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Report infection trends, audit findings, and safety concerns to management.
- Participate in infection control committee meetings and quality improvement discussions.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN or equivalent).
- Infection Control Diploma is required.
- Valid nursing license such as NHRA Bahrain or equivalent healthcare authority license.
- Infection Control certification or additional training is preferred.
- Minimum 2–4 years of clinical nursing experience required.
- Experience in infection control, quality assurance, or patient safety departments is an advantage.
